Privacy Policy

Kleave collects no data of any kind. It makes no network connections and has no analytics, accounts, or telemetry. This page says what that means, what the app keeps on your Mac, and who else is involved when you get it.
What Kleave collects
Nothing. Kleave has no sign-in, no crash reporting, no usage statistics, and no updater. It does not collect your name, email address, IP address, location, device identifiers, or anything about how you use it. Nothing is transmitted, because the app contains no networking code and bundles no third-party libraries.
What stays on your Mac
Your settings live in one file, settings.json, in Kleave's
own folder under your user Library (inside the app's container on the
Mac App Store build). It holds your keyboard shortcuts for the sixteen
window actions and your preferences, such as Keep awake and Open at
login. It never leaves your computer.
Deleting Kleave and that folder removes everything the app has ever stored. There is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf, because we never receive it.
The Accessibility permission
macOS requires your explicit permission before any app can move another app's windows, and Kleave asks for it on first launch. Until you grant it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, the app does nothing at all.
Kleave uses the permission for one purpose: to read the position and size of the window in front of you, and to write a new position and size back.
It does not read window contents, text, form fields, or passwords. It does not record keystrokes: the shortcuts are registered with macOS, which tells the app when one is pressed and nothing more. It does not read window titles, take screenshots, or capture your screen, and it needs neither the Screen Recording nor the Input Monitoring permission.
You can revoke the permission at any time in the same place. Kleave stops acting on windows immediately.
Third parties
The app shares data with no one, because it holds none to share. Two companies are involved around it, and neither receives anything from Kleave:
- Apple. If you get Kleave from the Mac App Store, the download, any purchase, and the receipt are handled entirely by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy; Kleave never sees payment or account details. If you get the notarized build from GitHub instead, macOS may contact Apple to verify the app's signature when you first open it. That is a function of macOS, not something Kleave does or can see.
- Cloudflare. This website is a static page hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Cloudflare processes each request, including its IP address, transiently to serve and protect the site, under Cloudflare's Privacy Policy; we do not receive or keep those logs.
Children
Kleave is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. Since it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.
Changes and contact
Kleave does not currently collect any data. If that ever changes, this page will say so before the version that changes it ships, with a new date at the top.
