It helps to include your macOS version, the Kleave version (shown at the bottom of Settings → General), what you pressed or clicked, and what happened instead.

Common questions

Shortcuts do nothing

Kleave can't move a window until macOS gives it Accessibility access, and macOS doesn't add Kleave to that list by itself. Add it once by hand:

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
  2. Click + below the list and choose Kleave in your Applications folder.
  3. Turn on the switch next to Kleave.

Kleave is switched on in Accessibility, but windows still don't move

The entry can go stale, for example after an update. Select Kleave in the Accessibility list, remove it with −, and add it again as above. If that doesn't help, quit Kleave, run this in Terminal to clear its entry, then open Kleave and add it again:

tccutil reset Accessibility com.kenlaam.Kleave

Also check the window itself: no app can move a window that is in macOS full screen, and some system windows can't be moved at all.

One shortcut doesn't work

Another app, or macOS itself, may already use that key combination — often another window manager, which is best quit while Kleave runs. Open Settings → Shortcuts and record a different combination. Restore Default Shortcuts… puts every shortcut back.

The menu bar icon is missing

The icon appears once Kleave has Accessibility access. If you turned off Show in menu bar, shortcuts keep working; to get back to Settings, open Kleave again from Applications or Spotlight. On a Mac with a notch, a crowded menu bar can also hide icons behind it.

A window doesn't fill the whole area

Some apps set a minimum or maximum size for their windows, and Kleave can't size a window past those limits. The window is placed as close to the target as the app allows.

Uninstalling Kleave

Choose Quit Kleave from its menu, then drag Kleave from Applications to the Trash. If the menu bar icon is hidden, open Kleave again to bring up Settings and press ⌘Q. You can also remove it from the Accessibility list and from Login Items in System Settings. Where its one settings file lives is described in the Privacy Policy.
